The Y611-17-26Y is the original Mazda three-piece synchronizer ring assembly used for 2nd gear in the RX-8 6-speed manual gearbox.
Second-gear synchronizer wear is a common concern in heavily used transmissions and can result in difficult engagement, baulking or grinding during upshifts and downshifts.
For a correct transmission rebuild, the condition of the complete 2nd gear synchronizer system should be inspected rather than replacing the synchronizer ring alone.
